at your best

the day starts of with a dose of caffeine, without which I’d give Lurch from Addams Family a run for his money. After passing (the most horrible stretch of) traffic proceeding the Subang toll exit, I took the usual route into Glenmarie. Cruising down this road, I noticed a sleek BMW 6 series bearing a licensed plate number of 6. One can’t help but be captivated by such a gorgeous ride. It rode directly ahead of me for a few kilometres on. After being in awe and wonder (to the possesser of beauty), the thought passed over, as a common maneuver when we linger from one thought to the next. I suppose, in the midst of an after thought I switched lanes and the musings of Beemer-sixer faded.

Call time was at 8:30am, when i carried out a list of errands before hitting out for a shoot at one of UEM Buidler’s construction sites bordering KL Sentral. On the way there, my producer dropped the bomb. i shall get my hands dirty on set today. I’ll be conducting all interviews.
As if having to ride on a crane lift up to the 30th floor where the shoot was to take place wasn’t enough.
I’m acrophobic. I literally went weak in the knees on the way up. I’ve heard the phrase being used often, but never thought it actually possible. I’m living proof that it’s more than a clichéd phrase. But here i am, alive still (thank God for all his blessings) to tell the tale.

I thought I fared pretty well in conducting the interview considering the fact that the questions were impromptu, it being my first time and my producer evaluating my performance the entire time. Had I known I was about to take on a journalistic role today, I would’ve been more prepared and did research on the company preceding the interview. Albeit, my producer filled me in on the angle of our story during our journey to the site which indeed aid the way i formulated the questions to be asked.
The MD and project manager were good speakers and amicable, which made the whole experience less intimidating than I had imagined.
Oh, might I add that the MD repeated the words philosophy and propagate in ALL his answers. I was a heartbeat away from snickering out loud. Otherwise, he was such a nice person. I feel bad now for commenting on his vices.

I WILL NOT SCRUTINIZE OR FORM BAD JUDGEMENTS ON OTHERS x 1000 (in chalk across a blackboard: Bart Simpson)

After wrapping up, I received a text message from mummy. It said Uncle Razif (her brother) was desperately trying to get my attention earlier this morning. He honked and even rolled down his window to get my attention when he noticed my car along his at a red light. quoteunquote: he was embarrassed that you ignored him as he felt the stares of surrounding cars, who thought him a cheeky old man trying to get the attention of a sweet young girl.

Yup the Beemer-sixer was my uncle alright. By no means was i disregarding honks or shouts through a window wound down. Especially from my own relative! I was inadvertently too absorbed in my own realm to notice. Just a minute before I was captivated by this car and the next, when that car tries to get my attention, I zone out. I've profusely apologized to him since the text message.
Blissfully ignorant at best, self indulgent - never. Yeah yeah.

Imagine a kaleidoscopic day as this. And only one person at heart you want (or need) to share it within an intimate conversation over coffee. A form of luxury you've been looking forward to all day.

But then your go to person just wasn’t in the mood.
Shattering innit?

For as long as the world still spins, there will be night and day.

xx
