someone once asked me, 'how can you be so comfortable spilling your heart out on the internet, where every tom, dick & harry (they forgot jane!) can read it? tak malu ke?'
um, no. upon writing my first few entries i slept on the fact that anyone would want to read my blog at all and so, i'd explicitly detail out every opinion on matters i felt strongly on. tittering on a few weeks later, friends would apprehensively ask me if i was okay. i took this as small talk, and replied, 'yeah of course. everything's just great!' whilst displaying the goofiest grin i could conjure up at the moment.
and they'd say something along the lines of, 'are you sure? because i read on your blog bla bla bla'.
if i was capable of blushing, i would've. the tomato kind of red. thank god my genetic constitution lacked the blush genotype. at that moment i, literally, wanted to eat my words. it was unexpected, of course. but then on the plus side, many praised my writing abilities. i knew what they were thinking though - who thought such an airhead had any creative insight. look who's laughing now.
disaster strikes on a daily basis and i've searched for wisdom in all the wrong places before but i know that i'll get through it in front of an audience. as these words from my diary scream out loud, you can make of it however you want to.

3lbs later
gazing at beauty which heralds its vigor, i'm left asphyxiated by the inability to cascade my disposition. caught between time and space, i gather the courage to break free from this visual bondage. whispers of past rush in continuum with warnings of beauty's venom.
'do not be fixed on a force that has the power to devour your liberties'
its captivating allure belied its peril and renders an uncontrollable lust in search of release. they were all born equally free, and so why would they suddenly have to bow to another? Fate is not what drives us to our decisions and actions, but rather the human condition.
O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. beauty, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.
- From Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, 1594

october by choice
october tops any other month of the year for various reasons:-
1. fall. my favourite season. okay, so it may seem absurd to associate myself at all with the concept of winter, spring, summer and fall since i've lived in 'mono-season, come rain and shine tropical' malaysia pretty much all my life. fortunately though, vacations abroad have allowed me to stumble upon and experience mother nature at its finest and what a fine fall it delivers. oh, and who could disregard the ethereal mis en scene set against central park where winona ryder and richard gere aver their lust for each other in the tear jerking autumn in new york?
2. the year is closing in. it's almost the end of the year but not quite. if you've had a crap year, it's only 2 months aways til u embark upon a new chapter of your life. otherwise, 2 months is plenty to make up for those new year resolutions you made in january. and it's never too early to start making new resolutions for next year.
3. it's breast cancer awareness month. show your support and don on a pink ribbon to show your support. i'm an avid supporter of this cause, as only those close to me know of the temporary shock and surgical operations i had to undergo early this year. oops, the secret's out now.
4. it's paris fashion week! whee. i love fashion week. the designs are inspiring and like a kid loose in the candy store i gape in awe at the emerging trends for spring/summer '08 especially when at the moment, i am stuck in a style rut. so much hype is emphasized on the paris shows though and they often overshadow the equally compelling shows in milan. my faves from milan this year are: alberta ferretti, alessandro dell'acqua, d&g, dsquared, emilio pucci, roberto cavalli, versace and bottega veneta.
5. lots of cake. it's my mum's birthday today. (i would put pictures of the mini-celebration over buka puasa we had today if i still had my camera which mysteriously disappeared over a month ago) and my birthday falls on the 31st. not so yay. i dread any age past 21. in the fashion industry, all those over 21 can go drown themselves (or a less drastic alternative; start eating and quit puking). so this year i'm turning 21 and 13 months.
some facts on october:
* October begins on the same day of the week as January in common years and May in leap years
* October in the Northern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent to April in the Southern Hemisphere and vice versa.
* October's birthstone is the opal or tourmaline.
* October's flower is the calendula or cosmos.
* The month October has become famous as "Red October", due to the Russian October revolution of 1917, although in the modern Gregorian calendar, the revolution started in November.
* In the nineteenth century, the month of October was dedication to devotion to the rosary in Roman Catholic countries.
* October is the most common birth month, along with July :)
